Built for Mac Users

Organize data all in one place with Customer, Vendor, & Transaction Centers
Find what you need, when you need it with the new Customer, Vendor, and Transaction Centers. These Centers consolidate key information onto a single screen. The next time a customer calls with a question about his account, simply go to the Customer Center to see his contact information and complete transaction history.

Back up to MobileMe
Prevent painful data loss by backing up your QuickBooks file to MobileMe. Choose one-time or ongoing automatic backup. You can restore it at any time.

Synchronize contacts with Mac OS X Address Book
Never enter a phone number or address twice. Save typing time and errors by effortlessly synchronizing contact information between QuickBooks and your Mac Address Book, cell phone, PDA or other iSync-compatible applications. Activate QuickBooks Contact Sync, and selected contacts appear automatically in Address Book. Update a contact in Address Book...the changes automatically appear in QuickBooks. Leave the feature active to keep contact information, including email addresses, up-to-date at all times.

Add reminders to iCal
QuickBooks integrates with iCal so you can be reminded to print invoices and checks or to pay bills in one consolidated calendar and never miss a bill payment. Simply check the box next to "Show in iCal" on any invoice and a reminder is added to your calendar. And if you later decide to change the payment terms on the invoice in QuickBooks, iCal is automatically updated with the new due date.

Share data with your accountant or other Windows-based users
Share your QuickBooks data with Windows-based users, such as your accountant. Send a Mac file to a Windows user (who can update it) and the Windows user can send it back. Just click the toolbar icon: "Backup to QuickBooks Windows". As QuickBooks creates the backup, it simultaneously creates a PDF file of simple instructions for opening and sending back the file. Send both files to your accountant or Windows user.

Track financial information in one place

Track sales & expenses
Get rid of the piles of paperwork. Easily enter customer payments & bills from vendors. Since QuickBooks organizes everything in one place, you'll be able to access all past payments & bills for each customer and vendor with just a few clicks.

Pay bills & print checks
Easily create and print checks. QuickBooks will keep track of each check so you can keep tabs on where your money is going.

Create & e-mail invoices
Use the data you already have in QuickBooks--such as customer contact info & products/services--to make creating invoices a snap. Choose from pre-designed QuickBooks templates or customize the layout yourself.

Organize data on customers, vendors, and employees all in one place
No more hunting through piles of files or trying to remember where you stashed that important paper. QuickBooks organizes all your important small business information in one place, giving you easy access to a complete picture of your business.

Import data from Excel and Quicken for Mac
Get up and running fast by importing data from the tool you use to track your finances now. However little or much data you currently have, you won't have to start over from scratch.

Learn where your business is profitable and where you're losing money. You can also customize report templates to best meet your needs.

4 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised (from a Non-Accountant)   February 21, 2010
E. Dekker (Columbus, OHIO United States)
Disclaimer - I am not an accountant, I do not transfer files to and from an accountant, and I am a long-time mac user after being a long-time PC user. I also no longer need QB payroll.

I am notoriously skeptical of Quickbooks in general, starting my QB journey with the Windows 03 version. 5 nightmarish years ensued, with countless hours wasted on the phone with tech support from another country. (If I would go into detail about how much I hate QB tech support, we'd be here all day - I'll spare you.) QB was a means to an end, and I questioned EVERY DAY why I stayed with the program. The files were unstable and even back-up files didn't work, and I lost HOURS of work because the program was unable to recover anything.

After FINALLY transferring everything from my work PC to my home Mac as my business moved home, I got the QB Mac version 07 and was confused, to say the least. It was completely different, no payroll (though I didn't need it) and was impossible to get into.

Then the 09 version came around - I love the home page (much like the old QB PC home page) and it was much more intuitive than before. I have had only 2 crashes, and lost nothing in either. Actually, I feel the way that QB-MAC backs up information and creates its files is more stable and direct than the PC version. After a hard drive crash, back up files booted right up and all of my info was intact.

I love this version, and it is very easy for me to use - I can't speak to how it appears to a non-mac or non-QB person, but I would recommend it to most people.

1 out of 5 stars DON'T!!!!!!!!!   February 11, 2010
Gardengirl (Bainbridge Island, WA USA)
Sure wish I'd read reviews first and didn't just do my bookkeeper's bidding. No payroll. BUT a great deal - for twice the price of the program - you can have payroll, too!!!?*$!? If you don't have employees - or have enough to make the additional investment worthwhile - it might be worth it. But for a very small company this is a total ripoff!

1 out of 5 stars Difficult to use -- not very QUICK or user friendly   January 7, 2010

We were very disappointed in the MAC version of this software. We would not suggest purchasing this software if you aren't familiar with QuickBooks prior to purchase.

2 out of 5 stars I beg you: DON'T BUY IT   December 9, 2009

Please, save yourself and DON'T buy Quickbooks for MAC. I was perfectly happy with the Window version but my PC was on its last breath. We bought a MAC and transferred our Quickbooks. Big mistake. Everything takes longer to do. After using for a couple of months, here are few problems (I'm sure there are more!)

1. Can't use a memorized transaction without right clicking and selecting USE. Should have a shortcut.
2. Can't sort checking register by anything other than date. Would be useful to sort by check number or cleared status.
3. When you open general journal, can't scroll back to the previous entry to see what # you were on. Hard to see what # you should enter.
4. The closing date on the checking reconciliation doesn't show up until you are done reconciling and select whether or not to print the reconciliation report. The closing date should be entered on the initial screen.
5. Can't make an accountant's copy on a MAC. Can go to File>Utilities>Copy company file for PC. But, you won't be able to merge changes back. Also, you both need to be using the same year. Another option is to log in remotely.
6. No easy was to transfer funds between two different accounts (i.e. checking to saving)

I'm ready to buy another PC just so that I can have by Quickbooks for Windows back!

2 out of 5 stars It still sucks and they don't ever add any new features for the upgrade price   December 3, 2009
B. Greenstone (Austin, TX USA)

Intuit keeps dropping the ball here. They haven't made any significant improvements to QuickBooks in a decade, but they keep charging a ton of money for updates. They stop supporting old versions so they eventually fail on new OS releases, so you're forced to pay $140 to "upgrade". There are so many obvious features and improvements that they could be doing here, but they just keep recompiling the code with a new version number and scamming us into buying it.
