Have Fun
Best of all, Rosetta Stone is addictive. With every entertaining activity, you'll feel success. You'll want to use Rosetta Stone to have that next moment, that next breakthrough. So you'll keep using it, and you'll learn more!

That's language-learning success.
That's Rosetta Stone.

No translation or memorization required.

The most effective way to learn a new language is to be surrounded by it. When you were an infant, your parents taught you this way, by intuitively associating words with images. That's the ultimate language lab, but most language-learning programs completely ignore this.

Think about all of the ways you've tried to learn a language: classes at school, tapes and cassettes, even software that uses your native language as a base for your next one. What do they all have in common? Translation and memorization.

Instead of taking a "direct flight" from your brain to your new language, translation and memorization connects you to your old language. You always have to "fly" from your brain, to your native tongue ... and then translate what you've memorized to communicate.

That might work for a few words, but what happens when you get to a sentence or phrase? When you have to change tenses? You're going to make a lot of "connecting flights." That's why those other methods are so frustrating ... and why they fail.

Enter Dynamic Immersion.
This method encourages you to think like a baby. You'll pair words with vivid, real-life images and make connections between things you know and the new language. Soon, you'll be thinking in a new language, stringing words together into phrases that you create.

Innovative technology.
Rosetta Stone places this Dynamic Immersion method at the core of a suite of software that works with you to develop your skills. The simple, intuitive interface helps to keep you engaged in the solution, while advanced speech recognition technology makes certain that you're speaking correctly and accurately. Best of all, Rosetta Stone never leaves you behind. You'll only move forward when you're ready, when you've become comfortable and confident.

Communicate and connect with the world: Level 1, 2 & 3 Set.
Rosetta Stone Level 1, 2 & 3 Set will take you on a journey from the basics to a whole new level of sophistication. You'll build a foundation of fundamental vocabulary and essential language structure. You'll quickly gain the confidence to engage in social interactions. Say "hello" and "goodbye," arrange travel, order food, go shopping and more! From there, you'll share your ideas and opinions, express feelings and talk about your life, your interests and more. You'll discover a voice. In a new language.

Audio Companion
With Audio Companion, you'll enhance the Rosetta Stone experience wherever you go. You'll learn new skills on the computer, and then reinforce what you've learned with Audio Companion. Simply play the CDs on a stereo or download them to a MP3 Player. 5 out of 5 stars Rosetta Stone French Level 1,2,3 w/headset   September 4, 2010
Christina Lb Jones (Australia)
Arrived promptly, A1 condition as new, I'd already searched the net for the best deal and this was it.
The program is excellent IF YOU KEEP UP WITH IT REGULARLY even a little every day. allows you to go back or jump ahead if you think it serves your needs better. For a language class, I'm enjoying it.

1 out of 5 stars Compatibility issues with multiple languages on the same computer.   August 25, 2010
Robert A. Vignato Jr. (St. Augustine, FL)
I purchased RS French 1,2,3. I then purchased Chinese 1. After trying to install it on my MAC Book, neither will run! I get a 2122 error. Their support is terrible. It's the type of thing where they put you on hold and transfer you and it never gets solved... I'm out over $500 bucks!

My advice... Skip Rosetta Stone software... Too expensive for what is delivered. Not to mention compatibility issues with different versions of their software and the fact that they're terrible at supporting it.

5 out of 5 stars The only way to learn a new language   August 21, 2010
Joshua N. Thiele (Apex, NC USA)
I purchased Rosetta stone french level 1-3 a month ago, and without a doubt it is the best method of learning a new language. I have several times over the last 2 years tried to learn French with living language, and the use of websites and none of them come even close.

The way rosetta stone works is incredible it doesn't make you learn by translation and is immensely interactive. The level set-up is that its broken down into 4 units, and each unit has 4 core lessons(about 30 min each) with additional basic lessons in-between (usually about 5 or more each) and they are either set as reading, listening, speaking or writing. But it is all connected visually. The software again is very interactive.

For the price of the content and what you get for it is great. Some may be skeptical about it, i was at first, but the pay back will be that by the time you finish with either lessons 1-3 or 1-5 you will be able to easily interact, communicate and quickly be able to immerse yourself in the culture who's language you've learned.

Sample: The speaking parts will show you say a dog and will pronounce "chien" at which point it will prompt you to say the word using the headset your provided and by how you pronounce it it will respond effectively whether you spoke it correctly. Even better if your having difficulty saying "jaune" = "yellow" their is a tab that when used will compare your speaking of the word with the 'author' and will show whether your pitch or pronunciation is off.

The only comment i would say is that each lesson should have a library of words that you can go through and practice with at improving your accent and pronunciation.

I am at this moment back at school and i could not imagine sitting in a classroom with 20 other people trying to learn another language. The plus side is you'd have people to practice with but for the time and cost your getting a much better deal just buying Rosetta. i paid 485 instead of 560 from rosetta and am already comfortable and confident with my french.

One of the perks about it is if you have a family or spouse who also wants to learn it allows several users on the program ( you can only have it on one computer unless you buy several levels and install them separately.

Overall if your looking at learning a new language this is the software for you. Try the demo version if you like but for costs sake it is worth the investment. I would be completely dumbfounded if i were to have this on my resume and they would be critical cause i didn't learn it in school given that the government, fortune 500 companies and international organizations use it as their method of learning a new language.

2 out of 5 stars Rosetta Stone French 1,2,3   May 29, 2010
Michael P. Oconnor (NY USA)

After a couple months of use Rossetta stone no longer runs on my MAC 10.5.8.
Tech support is email only and slow to respond.

It's a fun program to play with if you have the time, I find myself google translating words constantly to learn the detailed meaning of them.

Their approach allows a single application version to be produced and sold to anyone regardless of their native language, so that is why they do no translation. It may or may not be a good method for learning, but it's ingeniously efficient use of programmers, which they probably need more of since they're slow to release patches. Profit is king at Rosetta Stone.

3 out of 5 stars Great product, lousy support   April 12, 2010

This is a great product. I wont go into details because others have done so. However, BEWARE, the licensing scheme is a pain and customer service is dismal. Licencing: not only are you restriced to installing in one computer (which, even if inconvenient seems understandable) but also, if your hard drive is damaged and you need to re install, it is impossible to do it withouth calling tech support, because the software thinks your are perfoming a "second", hence forbiden installation. Your are not even allowed to un install from your old computer and install in your new one: you must call tech support.

And here comes the rub: tech support is really bad. It is hard to get someone on the phone and being put on hold for 20 minutes is not uncommon. The answers are slow to come, and, to sum up, it just takes a lot of time and effort to fix any problems.
